The Arrest of Imran Khan

The Arrest of Imran Khan and Failure of the Nation

The prevailing situation has compelled me to pen down my thoughts.

It is pretty heartbreaking to see how the events have unfolded since yesterday after the brutal arrest of the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Chairman of PTI and the one-man army, Imran Khan.

We as a nation failed to protect our beleaguered leader as the heavy contingent of Rangers crossed the red line while miserably arresting Imran Khan from the Islamabad High Court.

We as a nation failed to uphold the dignity and honour of our state institutions as the public resorted to pelting stones, dilapidating the property and setting houses on fire.

We as a nation failed to differentiate between right and wrong, moral and immoral, peace and chaos, justice and injustice. We merely live in a world of delusions and fantasies where emotions cloud our intellect.

Perpetrators of Deplorable Acts and the London Plan

We all know the perpetrators of these deplorable acts very well who want to bring down Imran Khan and his party to achieve their personal motives and vested interests. The London plan is being executed perfectly while ridiculing the state institutions and bringing the popular leader down.  Meanwhile, the people are being made a scapegoat for all of it and being used as pawns in this fiasco.

Consequences for the Nation

We are the ones who eventually suffer amid such chaos, we are the ones on the receiving end as we descend to the bottom of the cliff without turning back from this helpless moment. Our country is already following a downward trajectory, coupled with this political crisis.

Let's pray that the situation does not worsen and that all the stakeholders put their motives aside while resolving their differences through constructive dialogue.

Besides, the last resort is a bloody revolution that will cost innocent lives on both sides of the warring factions. Having said that, a course involves countless sacrifices in the form of blood for which our nation is still unprepared due to a leadership crisis, particularly after the arrest of Imran Khan.

The Iranian Revolution (1978-79)

Let’s go through the events of history starting from the  Iranian Revolution also called the Islamic Revolution, a popular uprising in Iran in 1978–79 that resulted in the overthrow of the monarchy on February 11, 1979, and led to the establishment of an Islamic Republic.

The revolution involved mass demonstrations, strikes, civil disobedience, armed clashes, and the participation of various opposition groups and organizations, such as secular nationalists, leftists, Islamists, students, workers, bazaar merchants, and women. This revolution was not peaceful as it came at the cost of blood, violence and anarchy.

The Egyptian Revolution (2011)

Similarly, Mohammad Morsi, an Egyptian engineer and politician became the first democratically elected president of Egypt in 2012 after the 2011 revolution that toppled Hosni Mubarak’s regime.

The 2011 Egyptian Revolution was a popular uprising that started on January 25, 2011, and lasted until February 11, 2011. It involved mass protests, civil disobedience, strikes, and clashes with security forces. It was motivated by various social, economic, and political grievances, such as police brutality, corruption, unemployment, poverty, and lack of democracy. This too came at the cost of blood which signifies that we as a nation are still far behind and cannot sustain these uprisings, demonstrations and protests for a longer time.
